Underground Storage Tank Services

Our established underground storage tank (UST) program emphasizes a full-service approach, tailored specifically for the customer. This approach can include some or all of the following:

Risk Assessment

We provide risk assessments to help clients determine potential environmental liabilities from their underground storage tanks.  JBR evaluates the UST site based on local hydrology, geology, tank age, and tank contents. The client receives a report that documents JBR's findings and provides a recommended plan of action to comply with UST regulations.

Monitoring

Based on site geology and hydrology, JBR designs and implements leak detection plans, including groundwater and/or soil vapor monitoring, to meet regulatory requirements.

Decommissioning

JBR provides tank removal and backfill services, including acquisition of all required permits to remove, dismantle, and dispose of underground storage tanks, associated piping, and residual liquids.  JBR's UST removal services include:

• Safety precautions for protecting human health and the environment
• Disposal of contaminated soils, clean backfill, grading, and restoration of the site
• Extent of contamination study, if needed
• Written documentation of procedures and actions taken to remove the tanks

UST Remediation Services

We have the resources needed to conduct investigations and remediations using the most economical methods. Equipment, such as our Geoprobe® system, company-owned and operated soil vapor extraction system, dataloggers, and software systems, minimize costs of site characterization, and maximize information gathered.

We provide professional and field services for UST site remediations, including:

• Site investigations and feasibility studies
• Design, installation, and monitoring of groundwater and soil remediation systems
• Site remediation and closure
• Alternative cleanup technology evaluations

We can perform three-dimensional modeling on complex hydrogeological projects to identify plumes from surface and subsurface spills, and to estimate spill ages and probable migration. We also use models to evaluate groundwater well placement, pumping rates for remediation, and development of water quality projections for impact analyses.
