JBR cultural resources staff participated in the baseline archaeological survey and subsequent testing of prehistoric and historic period sites along the Montana segment of Altamont Gas Transmission Company’s pipeline route extending through central Montana. The assessment identified and documented numerous sites including toolstone scatters, tipi ring concentrations, stone drive lines, cairns, isolated artifacts, homesteads, and historic debris scatters. The assessment and subsequent Programmatic Agreements with state and federal agencies complied with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) under the auspices of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
