Hoku Materials, Inc. Air Quality Permitting & Modeling Assitance

JBR's air quality consultants successfully guided Hoku Materials, Inc., a polysilicon manufacturer, through the air permitting process under a facility emission cap (FEC) provision. This provision allowed for flexibility in the location and emissions of each emissions unit, while demonstrating compliance with the National Ambient Air Quality Standards. JBR completed dispersion modeling using the EPA-approved model AERMOD to demonstrate compliance. Also, JBR obtained approval of pre-permit construction, which allows Idaho companies to construct (yet not operate) a facility prior to obtaining the air permit. JBR was successful in obtaining the permit in a short time period so that the company could begin an aggressive construction schedule.
