When Idahoan Foods discovered a Title V permit was necessary for its plant boiler, JBR Environmental Consultants, Inc. (JBR) directed Idahoan's proactive and prompt submittal of an application for a Title V permit and came into compliance in a relatively short amount of time.
JBR further assisted the facility in regulatory and air quality analyses needed to assess the viability of burning residual fuel oil. After thorough economic and environmental evaluation by the plant engineer and JBR, the Dubois plant determined it would invest in a venturi scrubber to control sulfur dioxide and particulate emissions. The make-up of the scrubber discharge water was very important as it would be included in the land applied processing wastewater. Idahoan evaluated the use of a lime based scrubber, and concluded it was safe to apply to crops, and the byproduct, gypsum, would even enhance the soil. JBR assured that this innovative design complied with all air quality regulations.
