SEDIMENT AND SHELLFISH SAMPLING, CENTRAL DOCK, COOS BAY, OREGON

JBR personnel worked with Hall-Buck Marine to collect and analyze sediment and shellfish samples from Coos Bay near the Central Dock facility in Coos Bay, Oregon. The purpose of the sampling program was to assess whether or not sediment and shellfish in Coos Bay were adversely affected from the shipment of copper ore concentrate from the dock facility. Samples were tested for priority pollutant metals, trace metals, and indicator metals. The analyses were compared with metal concentrations presented by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as representative of low (Effects Range-Low [ER-L]) and median (Effects Range-Median [ER-M]) for potential biological effects.
