JBR Environmental Consultants, Inc. (JBR) conducted a jurisdictional waters of the United States survey, jurisdictional wetlands survey, and seep and spring survey on approximately 25,000 acres of land in Nevada's Great Basin. Preparation for the surveys included review of previous work conducted in the area, review of available aerial photographs, infrared photographs, and topographic maps.
Field work consisted of using two teams of two people each. The teams walked each drainage in order to identify seep and spring and to determine the jurisdictional status of the drainages. Once a seep and spring area was found JBR used the ACOE Arid West Supplement to evaluate the wetland and determine its jurisdictional status. By using summer interns to assist with data collection and input, JBR was able to minimize the amount of time spent in the field and reduce overall costs.
